In India a song’s copyright is valid for 60 years after the death of the copyright holder, after that the song becomes public domain (unless copyright is extended) and hence one can release covers without a license. However, certain platforms like instagram, Facebook and Youtube content ID, do not monetize public domain songs and hence may remove the tracks from their platform.
